Rays in the Arizona Fall League: Week 1

PORT CHARLOTTE — The Tampa Bay Rays have seven prospects — six of them members of the 2014 Charlotte Stone Crabs — playing for the Peoria Javelinas of the Arizona’s Fall League. Here’s a look at how they fared in Week 1 of the fall season:

Tuesday: Peoria 5, Surprise 4

  • Catcher Justin O’Conner: 3 for 5, double, run.
  • First baseman Patrick Leonard: 0 for 5, two strikeouts.
  • Right-hander Matt Lollis: one inning, two hits, one run.

Wednesday: Surprise 8, Peoria 2

  • Outfielder Kes Carter: 0 for 3, walk, strikeout.
  • Right-hander Jaime Schultz: two innings, six hits, five runs, two walks, one strikeout.
  • Right-hander Zach Cooper: one inning, two hits, one run, one walk, two strikeouts.

Thursday: Peoria 11, Scottsdale 2

  • Carter: 2 for 4, double, walk, run, two RBIs.
  • O’Conner: 2 for 3, double, walk, two runs, RBI.
  • Right-hander Colton Reavis: two innings, one hit, two strikeouts.

Friday: Salt River 12, Peoria 2

  • O’Conner: 2 for 4, double, run.
  • Lollis: 2/3 innings, three hits, five runs, three walks, one home run.
  • Cooper: one inning, walk, strikeout.

Saturday: Mesa 6, Peoria 3

  • Carter: 2 for 3, walk, run.

Fall season totals:

  • O’Conner: 7 for 12 (.583), three doubles, three runs, RBI, three games played.
  • Leonard: 1 for 6 (.167), double, RBI, two games played.
  • Carter: 4 for 10 (.400), double, two runs, two RBIs, three games played.
  • Lollis: 0-0, 32.40 ERA, six hits, six runs, three walks, 1 2/3 innings.
  • Schultz: 0-1, 22.50 ERA, six hits, five runs, two walks, one strikeout, two innings.
  • Cooper: 0-0, 4.50 ERA, two hits, one run, two walks, three strikeouts, two innings.
  • Reavis: 0-0, 0.00 ERA, one hit, two strikeouts, two innings.
