ST. PETERSBURG — Kevin Cash has been the manager of the Tampa Bay Rays for 11 days now. He’s spoken with players and met with coaches, worked extensively with the front office, and he spent the better part of last week in San Diego attending baseball’s Winter Meetings.

On Monday, he donned a Rays jersey for the first time.

The Rays formally introduced Cash as the fifth manager in franchise history at Tropicana Field on Monday, where Cash addressed the gathered media, Rays execs and family about his first few weeks on the job and what he expects will come next gets ready to manage his first season at any level.

“This has been incredible for my family and I,” the Tampa native said. “It’s an incredible honor to be named a major league manager, and I don’t think you an quantify getting to do it in your hometown. So it’s incredibly special, and a joy to get back home. That being said, it’s about time to get to work.”

Check back later for some highlight’s from Monday’s press conference.
